CLYDE VON KLAUS – MOONBEAMS
Another Friday Freebie today… It’s that album that made the December 2021 Doom Charts and with it come ten tracks that meander through the heavy landscape like a hobo on mushrooms. CLYDE VON KLAUS brings us Moonbeams, filled with psychedelic garage, punky stoner and doomy grunge. Indeed, and all served up raw, gritty and grating. Heavy on the fuzz and deliciously filthy! It’s good! It’s damn good!
Or as Andy Kovalcik stated back then: “Based in Hutto, Texas, Swamp Records’ own Clyde Von Klaus is quickly becoming one of my favorite one-man projects. The diversity between the tracks-and even within some track-is impressive on this killer release titled Moonbeams. I also love how he uses different vocal techniques on different songs to great effect, sometimes reminiscent of Mudhoney or Monster Magnet and other times something altogether different. An interesting album that has a great balance of experimentation while exploring many heavy genres that we are familiar with.”
In his own words: “A doomy garage rock extravaganza. Elements absorbed in the blood stream from punk,doom,occult,70’s,stoner,grunge,psych,death metal, hardcore, new wave, pop and many other contaminants that cannot be contained or restricted. Originally from Jamestown New York Clyde Von Klaus meandered to Texas in 2012. CVK has been involved in bands/solo projects and music in one way or another since the mid 80’s.“
