Another Friday Freebie? What the hell! Yes, another one! This time it’s SEUM, who just released their new DOUBLE DOUBLE album and decided to give away a 100 codes for the one that came before… Namely: BLUEBERRY CASH! The three-track album was released last year, April 20th and featuring three tracks… One of the three songs that features on the Blueberry Cash EP is John Flag. Two of which were written for SEUM’s Winterized album but which didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the tracks and one song is from vocalist Gaspard’s former band Lord Humungus (Hairy Muff). It was mixed and mastered by Greg Dawson (BWC Studios – Sons of Otis, Panzerfaust) and illustrated by Burmese Grindcore artist Fadzee Tussock. John Flag will pounce and pound and stamp and stomp you into submission with its gritty grind, severe sludge and uncompromisingly heavy two and half minute ruckus doom ‘n bass noise. Waving a tattered and torn death head flag there John?!
Their own words: ” Doom’ n Bass trio from Montreal. No guitars. While working on our upcoming second full length album, we have decided to take a smoke break on April 20th and release the Blueberry Cash EP. It contains 2 songs written during the Winterized sessions (Blueberry Cash and John Flag – they didn’t make the album tracklist as they didn’t fit its mood) and an epic 7 minutes cover of Gaspard’s former band Lord Humungus (Hairy Muff).”
Patrick Schober wrote on Monster Riff: “Seum has always been a band that excels under scrutiny. Winterized was punctuated by a sort of twisted humor, and Live From the Seum-Cave was a bold live recording that captured the best tracks in the band’s catalog.
Here, Seum offers three excellent tracks while gradually evolving the Seum sound to cover a wider ground. Yes, this is still a doomy Sludge Metal band, but we see them embracing their genre’s sonic roots by occasionally slipping into the Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll—though these moments are captured in Seum’s unique delivery—and pushing the boundaries of their bass tone.”
