“Let’s get physical, physical
~ probably misheard Olivia Newton-John lyrics
I wanna get physical
Let’s get into physical
Let me hear your Doom Charts talk…”
Does the sun wean our attention from all thats good and heavy? Hell no. Still, there’s no denying that this season arrives hand in hand with holidays, festivals, and time spent away from the daily grind. And that’s true for everyone, right? Fewer Contributors. Fewer listeners. Even a few fewer releases finding their way into the world. Well, only a few fewer… For as the dust settled, there were still 193 albums that received votes. Below, you can find the Top 40 from that remarkable pile, a list packed with 39 brand-new heavy releases, each ready to leave its mark. And pull you back in…
Most of them have a Bandcamp page. And of course, there are plenty of other ways to stream these albums online. I genuinely love that. The fact that we can discover incredible music from every corner of the globe with just a few clicks is something I’ll never take for granted. But here’s the thing: those albums aren’t really mine. Not truly.
I love my Bandcamp collection, but I hope we all realize how fragile digital ownership really is. It can disappear in an instant—just like your digital PlayStation library. After all, we don’t actually own these purchases; we’re merely granted a license to access them for as long as the platform exists, or for as long as the people behind it decide we should. That’s why I treasure my vinyl records. My CDs. My posters. My art. And yes, even my physical games. I may not play most of them anymore, but I still value the simple fact that they’re mine. They carry memories, stories, and countless hours of joy that no revoked license can ever take away.
Sadly, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for fans, collectors, and supporters to keep doing what they love. Not only because of decisions like PlayStation’s push away from ownership, but also because European buyers are once again facing additional customs charges on imports from outside the EU… Stacked on top of the already painful shipping costs. I don’t ask for much. Hell, I hardly want anything at all. I simply want, to be able, to spend my time, money, and energy supporting the music, art, and creators I love. Because love feels just a little more real when you can hold it in your hands. Yes… Love… Is so much better when its physical!

~ Marek (Dezarbuzator)
24. BLACK GLOW – WAVES AND MIRRORS – MIRRORS AND WAVES / NEW!
680 Points
Doom, Stoner, Gaze, Garage
Monterrey, Mexico
Self-released
Like light shifting across restless water, Waves and Mirrors – Mirrors and Waves drifts between shadow and radiance, carrying equal measures of weight and wonder. BLACK GLOW weave hypnotic riffs, spectral psychedelia, and aching melodies into an atmosphere that feels both intimate and vast. At its heart, Gina Ríos’ luminous voice serves as an emotional compass, guiding songs that unfold with patience, melancholy, and a serene kind of power. Richly textured yet deeply human, the album embraces contrast without losing its identity, revealing an album of remarkable depth… Atmospheric by default, every crest and every horizon feels like the destination you wanted to reach…
~ Joop Konraad (Stoner HiVe)
23. SMOKE WITCH – RETURN OF THE WITCH / NEW!
875 Points
Stoner Doom, Doom Metal, Heavy Psych, Occult Rock
Melbourne, Australia
Self-released
SMOKE WITCH returns with a spellbinding collection of crushing riffs, hypnotic grooves and haunting melodies. ‘Return of the Witch‘ effortlessly balances psychedelic wanderings with bone-heavy doom, creating an album that never stands still while remaining cohesive from start to finish. Every track brings its own identity, making this one of the year’s strongest independent doom releases and a record that keeps revealing new details with every spin.
~ Marek (Dezarbuzator)
22. OL’ TIME MOONSHINE – NOW I BLEED / NEW!
896 Points
Doom, Stoner, Metal, Rock
Toronto, Canada
Black Throne Productions
Damn, this album starts perfectly with ‘Poison’, a song that fires on all cylinders with a Gay Paris-like take on Clutch, before settling into mid-tempo doom. But wherever OL’ TIME MOONSHINE shops for influences in the realm of rock and metal, it’s the groove that thrusts ‘Now I Bleed‘ forward with ferociousness and power. Add to that the vocals that sound like someone’s chewing on razorblades just for the fun of it and you know you’ll be in for a nice ride of testosterone-fueled sonic grit with melodies to boot.
~ Ronny Dijksterhuis (Stoner HiVe)
21. MISTER EARTHBOUND – LITHA / NEW!
915 Points
Swamp Rock, Heavy Blues
Richmond, Virginia, USA
Self-released
Hot off the heels of their EP Ostara, Virginia swamp rockers MISTER EARTHBOUND return with another three-track collection: Litha. Here, MISTER EARTHBOUND continues to deliver a hypnotic blend of swamp rock, psychedelia, and heavy blues while adding a discernible amount of heat to their sound this time. One of the first things I noticed is the fluidity with which Litha moves between creeping, hazy, doom-laden trudges and buoyant, energetic, feel-good grooves. No matter what pace or mood a MISTER EARTHBOUND song embodies, its thick, warm sound has a way of completely washing over the listener like the sultry air of a summer night. Much like the season it represents, Litha is here to remind us to slow down and let loose.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
20. BROADSLAB – THE FIFTH ESSENCE / NEW!
1192 Points
Stoner, Southern Metal, Doom, Psych
Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
Electric Desert Records
BROADSLAB is back with their first record in 12 years,The Fifth Essence, and it’s about time because we need their version of southern stoner soul metal now more than ever. These guys have not been sitting around during their break between records; they have been a staple in the Raleigh live scene, honing their craft, with the results being this riff filled, swampy southern metal party that you can hear blasting from North Carolina to all points around the world. The secret sauce is in the details, like the subtle and underlying psych vibes that take this record to another plane. Best played at maximum volume with your beverage of choice.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip, Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)
19. GUTWARD – I / NEW!
1384 Points
Stoner, Doom, Metal
Jakarta, Indonesia
Self-released
GUTWARD brings a massive sound that is atmospheric yet heavy, slow-burning stoner doom that doesn’t crush you all at once, rather it smothers you under the continuous weight of delectable and despicable riffs. The almost drowning in-the-back-of-the-mix vocals perfectly fit the lo-fi doom and gloom sounds of “I”, pulling you further into the void. The track “The Messages” is hauntingly mesmerizing, closing out the album in a tense, slow-driven melancholy. The three-piece from Indonesia have not reinvented the wheel; instead, they’ve taken a formula that we all know and love and infused it with their own interpretation. The result is an album that should resonate with the Doom Charts audience.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)
18. REDWOOD – HYPERSPACE / NEW!
1422 Points
Stoner
California, USA
Northern Buffalo Productions
Heavy hitting drums, melodic, thumping bass lines, gargantuan grooves, great songs and a good singer are all you need in the world of straight forward (psychedelic) stoner rock. REDWOOD display it abundance on their new album ‘Hyperspace‘. Over one our of top notch, heat-generating, sand-blistering desert space goodness that doesn’t overstay its welcome for even a second. Their best album to date by quite a margin. Which is no mean feat as their earlier stuff isn’t bad either (far from it).
~ Ronny Dijksterhuis (Stoner HiVe)
17. DOOMHERRE/ORDOS/HEXJAKT/KAISER – THE FOUR ALTARS OF SIN / NEW!
1719 Points
Doom, Stoner
Sweden/Sweden/Sweden/Finland
Majestic Mountain Records
Four altars. Four bands. Four devious offerings forged in hellfire and doom. Four Altars of Sin unfolds like a forbidden ritual, each performance serving as another step down the left-handed path. Rather than competing for the spotlight, each act strengthens the album’s momentum with towering riffs and crushing atmosphere, creating a seamless journey of cinder, ash, and doom worship.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)
16. WARNING – RITUALS OF SHAME / NEW!
1792 Points
Traditional Doom Metal
UK
Relapse Records
Rituals of Shame is the third WARNING album and the first since 2006’s landmark Watching from a Distance. While informed by and reflective of frontman Patrick Walker’s work with 40 Watt Sun during the intervening years, Rituals of Shame is scarcely less heavy and no less emotionally potent (I was crying within the first five minutes) as a result. Rather, the textures are warmer and the writing more nuanced. So, if slow, heavy, and emotive music is your thing, I cordially invite you, to paraphrase another of the genre’s luminaries, to find salvation in the music of despair. Essential.
~ Ben Bellum (The Greatest Thing You’ve Never Heard)
15. DRUIDESS – TRIP MEADOW / NEW!
1870 Points
Psychedelic Doom, Stoner
Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
Self-released
Newcastle, UK is home to a mighty new powerhouse in the Psychedelic Doom scene under the name of DRUIDESS. As debuts go, this is KILLER! Hooks, riffage and superb vocals elevate this release to one of the best new releases of 2026!
~ Steve De Rique (Howls from The Hollows, Doomed & Stoned, Stoner HiVe)
14. URZAH – A TRANQUIL VOID / NEW!
1944 Points
Sludge, Doom, Post-Metal
Bristol, England
APF Records
URZAH‘s “A Tranquil Void,” does so many things and gets every one of them right. Doom, sludge, post and prog are the sounds that will be experienced in this album. And what an album this is. It is emotional, expansive and even catchy at times. Music that hits hard but always has a depth bubbling underneath the surface that can be explored. “A Tranquil Void,” is arranged incredibly well. Each song is placed in its sequence exactly where it needs to be. As a result, every song compliments the one before and after it, while also serving the album as a whole.
~ Justin Wittenmeier (DoomedForMetal)
13. CORNUCOPIA – SONGS FOR UNFORTUNATE TIMES / NEW!
2366 Points
Doom Metal, Heavy Metal
Nantes, France
L’Ordalie Noire
After four EPs of varying lengths released between 2021 and 2024, here is Songs For Unfortunate Times, CORNUCOPIA’s debut full-length. Fans of traditional doom will be delighted to discover this dark, heavy, and uncompromising record. The style is pure, there are no psychedelic leanings, no post-metal undertones, nothing of the sort. It is simply doom that stays true to its heavy metal roots, built upon razor-sharp, hypnotic riffs played at mid-tempo.
~ Thierry “Horn-of-T“ François (Metal Intégral)
12. SOFT CURSE – LIMINAL RITUAL / NEW!
2448 Points
Doom, Heavy Metal
Santa Rosa, California, USA
Self-released
Emo Doom? Gloom Metal? Whatever you want to call it, the debut record from SOFT CURSE, Liminal Ritual, is excellent traditional metal/doom with a vocal range that would make Geddy Lee proud. These guys come from a screamo background, hence the emo reference, but the songs on Liminal Ritual are all about the hard rock, metal, and doom classics. Jonny Andrew’s voice is not the only thing that makes this record stand out. The riffs and the ripping solos sound like a band who has been donning the denim for decades. A new generation of doom is growing in the form of SOFT CURSE.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip, Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)
11. KALAMATA – ZENOSYNE / NEW!
3042 Points
Psychedelic Rock, Stoner, Post Rock
Hildesheim, Germany
Copper Feast Records / Made of Stone Recording
Nine years have passed since we last saw a new album from the German band KALAMATA. I filled the gap by frequently revisiting their previous LP, DISRUPTION. Although the wait don’t feel all that long to me, the announcement of ZENOSYNE thrilled me, and this time, the wait to finally hear it in its entirety felt like an eternity. Such is the nature of our perception of passing time, a concept central to the creation of this new album. The passage of time has certainly left its mark on the trio’s evolution; following a lineup change, they have delivered an album that remains just as powerful and vibrant as ever, but with a slightly increased emotional intensity and a welcome new sensitivity. The final result, slightly less raw, clearly invites the listener to an introspective journey. To me, that is the greatest quality one could ask for in an instrumental album. This firmly places ZENOSYNE high on my list of the year’s best albums.
~ Jay Baner (La Capsule Stoner)
10. BONG WIZARD – TRANSILVANIAN MUNCHIES / NEW!
4257 Points
Stoner Doom, Doom Metal, Stoner Rock
Houston, Texas, US
Self-released
BONG WIZZARD know exactly what they’re here to do: deliver huge riffs, thick grooves and a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor. Transylvanian Munchies never takes itself too seriously, but beneath the horror-themed fun lies a collection of irresistibly catchy stoner doom songs packed with fuzzy guitars, memorable hooks and infectious energy. It’s an album that proves heavy music can be crushing, playful and endlessly entertaining at the same time.
~ Marek (Dezarbuzator)
9. PLAINDRIFTER – GESTALT / NEW!
4277 Points
Desert Rock, Rock, Heavy Psych, Stoner Rock
Gelsenkirschen, Germany
Ripple Music
On Gestalt, German band PLAINDRIFTER push far beyond the boundaries of traditional stoner rock, weaving progressive ambition, post-rock atmosphere and heavy psych into a record that constantly shifts between crushing weight and quiet introspection. Rather than repeating the formula of their debut, PLAINDRIFTER embrace a broader sonic palette, making Gestalt an immersive journey for fans of expansive heavy music in the vein of Elder, King Buffalo and Lowrider.
~ Svempa ‘Doomsday Jesus’ Alveving (Cries From The Underworld)
8. GREEN DESERT WATER – EERIE MEADOWS / NEW!
4378 Points
Stoner Rock, Heavy Psych, Southern Rock
Spain
Small Stone Records
Occasionally, the right people get together and make something special. The power trio of GREEN DESERT WATER are just the right people. Their latest album, Eerie Meadows, from this Northern Spain band conjurs up a groove that is tight Southern Blues Rock. Guitar/Vocalist Kike Sanchis has a fine sound both tonal and vocal that sits in the pocket between soulful and syupy. Just like this album fits somewhere between 70’s classic rock and the psychedelia of the 90’s.
~ Turbo (Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)
7. KHEMMIS – KHEMMIS / NEW!
5064 Points
Doom Metal, Heavy Metal
Denver, Colorado, USA
Nuclear Blast Records
It’s been five years since their last album, but KHEMMIS have returned with their new self-titled release. The heavy riffs are back. The melodic singing of Phil Pendergast with touches of blackened vocals from Ben Hutcherson are back. The mixing of doom metal with traditional heavy metal is back. But, most importantly, the great, smart songwriting is back. And the fact that they are smart songwriters should come as no surprise since both Ben and Phil teach sociology at the University of Colorado. I will add, the one thing this album ups the ante on is production. Never has this band sounded so clear and up-front. The songs just don’t fill the room. They actually form sonic walls and become a separate room within the room. Highlights include the thundering opener “Invocation of the Dreamer” and the upbeat, raucous and catchy-as-hell “Beneath the Scythe.” It’s good to see a band five albums in without losing any of their mojo. And with this release, maybe they even regained a little.
~ Jamie Laszlo (Sea of Tranquility)
6. SLIFT – FANTASIA / NEW!
5460 Points
Stoner Metal, Psych Punk, Space Rock
Toulouse, France
Sub Pop Records
Needless to say, a band that has experienced a rise as spectacular as SLIFT‘s in recent years will generate enormous expectations among the listeners. We also know that overly high expectations can sometimes be difficult to meet. I have to admit that my first listen to Fantasia, the band’s fourth LP, left me feeling frustrated. But that was before I took into account the immense talent of the Toulouse-based guys. In fact, the album really opened up to me on the second listen. To get there, I had to get used to the title track, ‘Fantasia’ — a very good one, but perhaps not the most immersive introduction. However, it’s a wise choice that diverts the listener’s attention before sweeping them irrevocably into the cosmic hurricane that rages next. The tracks flow one after another, devastating everything in their path. There’s barely time for a brief lull during ‘Waiting Man’ to catch one’s breath before the pace picks up again in full force all the way to the finale. It was a risky choice, but the band has never been one to take the easy way out, and the result is a complete success. This is the hallmark of all great bands, and SLIFT proves once again that it definitely belongs among them.
~ Jay Baner (La Capsule Stoner)
5. OKAY YOU WIN – END OF DAYS / NEW!
6400 Points
Stoner, Heavy Rock, Grunge
London, United Kingdom
Blues Funeral Recordings
OKAY YOU WIN just released their new album a week ago, and I must’ve played it close to a dozen times by now. It’s powerful in every way, the production, the songs, the musicianship, the vocals, everything is executed with precision and purpose. With only two tracks dipping under the five-minute mark, the material has plenty of time to evolve, to ebb and flow, to build layered arrangements with real depth. Even though End of Days is the band’s debut studio album, it reflects years of hard work and refinement, and it shows throughout the record. This is not one you want to sleep on.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)
4. KING POTENAZ – ARCANE DESERT RITUALS VOL.2 / NEW!
6640 Points
Doom, Stoner, Metal
Fasano, Italy
Majestic Mountain Records
Arcane Desert Rituals Vol. II shows KING POTENAZ taking sonic cinema to new heights, fully immersing themselves in the stories they want to convey and the cast of characters that grapple with the bleak situations that unfurl throughout the sinister trudge of the album. And, in spite of the heightened focus on drone, atmospheric passages, and scene-building, the band ensures that their music is still filled with plenty of their signature bone-rattling heaviness, which comes in highly anticipated waves following tense buildups. Will this be a trend for KING POTENAZ? Only time will tell, but chances are whatever the band does next will orbit around a damn good story.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
3. THE HEAVY EYES – FOCUS / NEW!
9090 Points
Hard Rock, Psychedelic Blues
Memphis, Tennessee, USA
Kozmik Artifactz
Memphis fuzz and gritty blues THE HEAVY EYES have got that down. On their fifth album and first in six years the band comes out swinging as to say yeah we have been around and don’t you forget us. Focus, the title of the album also seems to be the mantra of the band it is time to get raw, get loud and get down. THE HEAVY EYES have the hard psychedelic blues rock for your soul brothers and sisters. Can you dig it?
~ Turbo (Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)
2. CHILD – REBIRTH / NEW!
9120 Points
Heavy Psych Blues, Hard Rock, Stoner Rock
Melbourne, Australia
Heavy Psych Sounds Records
The guitars are fueled with distortion, the rhythm section pounds away, and the warm vocal tone unfurls bluesy melodies with a blend of power and finesse, alternating with solos brimming with soul: welcome to the world of CHILD! For 35 minutes, we can let ourselves be carried along by the interplay between crushing riffs, captivating vocals, and expressive solos. Set to mid-to-slow tempos, the overall atmosphere exudes a sense of serene strength that is impossible to ignore. While the music certainly showcases the undeniable talents of the singer-guitarist, the result is a true collective alchemy in which every member of the trio shines.
~ Thierry “Child-T“ François (Metal Intégral)
1. TIDAL WAVE – VOLUME TREE / NEW!
13022 Points
Stoner, Doom
Sundsvall, Sweden
Ripple Music
TIDAL WAVE started like a good morning, with Blueberry Muffin, their debut record that blew people away. It was a hard act to follow but The Lord Knows they were able to with their second album, The Lord Knows. Ripple Music brings us their latest record, the cleverly named Volume Tree, which took me a second to grab on to, but once I did I fell hard for their take on doomy stoner rock that once again has these guys from Sundsvall, Sweden stand out amongst the throngs of bands doing this today, both with their excellent playing and witty lyrical stylings. More great stuff from an excellent band.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip, Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)
The lord knows I’ve been spinning the shit out of all the TIDAL WAVE‘s releases ever since that wild Blueberry Muffin ended up on my plate. So, as I slouched at the bar, watching the empty stage, of a dubious watering hole, I sat up straight when Black Sabbath, Dio, a mountain of amplifier stacks and an industrial strength fuzz pedal all walked into the bar. The start of a joke perhaps? Or a show? That’s right, that show, ended up sounding a lot like what turns out to be the new TIDAL WAVE album Volume Tree. They have taken the phrase “turn it up” as a personal challenge, serving up forty minutes of gloriously weighty riffs, thunderous grooves, and enough Dio-esque vocal heroics from Alexander “Sunkan” Sundqvist to make you involuntarily throw the horns. It may not reinvent the wheel, it may not even be a wheel… Either way… It will definitely flatten everything under several tonnes of glorious distortion!
