Were you one of the lucky ones that got to grab a code for that majestic WOLFNAUT album Return Of The Asteroid? We hope so… If not… Get fast and loud with WOLFNAUT‘s earlier album III! That’s right, another Friday Freebie brought to courtesy of those good ol’ boys from Norway! Out since October 2021, on their own Fuzzpanzer label, the album was a favorite among many Contributors and made it to the 8th spot of that months’ Doom Charts Edition. And you will wonder, why am I not always listening to WOLFNAUT? III erupts upon you like a thunderous slab of Scandinavian stoner that blends desert groove swagger with classic hard rock grit. Powerful, live energy making the album crackle, delivering punchy hooks and towering riffs. A wild and wonderful ride for all fans of fuzz, groove and high impact rock!
Adam Walsh (Earmunchies) wrote: “Catchy and infectious songwriting that sits somewhere in between the desert rock aesthetics of Kyuss, the pure riff fury of early The Sword and the accessibility of Queens of the Stone Age. Just a really dynamic and brilliant heavy rock album from an up and coming band.”
Their own words: “Forged in the sounds of early hard rock and metal, and the desert rock scene that exploded in the mid-1990s, WOLFNAUT (formerly known as Wolfgang) has made it a quest to investigate the musical landscapes between hooky twin-guitar based songs, and sludgy and doomy stoner rock. Hailing from the deep forests of Elverum, Norway, Wolfnaut has played to headbanging audiences from Trondheim to Duisburg.”
“Wolfnaut unleashes eight new and fuzz-heavy songs into the stoner, metal and hard rock canon. Forged in the sounds of early hard rock and metal giants like Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden, and the desert and stoner rock scene that exploded in the mid-1990s with bands like Kyuss and Sleep, Wolfnaut has since its debut album in 1998 made it a quest to investigate the musical landscapes between melodic and hooky twin-guitar based songs, and sludgy and doomy stoner rock. Wolfnaut’s third album, «III», continues in that tradition, but is by far the bands heaviest effort to date. Everything is turned up to the max. “III” is recorded live in studio, meaning that drums, bass, and rhythm guitars were recorded simultaneously and in one take. Guitar overdubs, percussion and most of the vocals have been added later. No click tracks or Autotune involved.”
