DOOM CHARTS – FEBRUARY 2026

“Traveler now reach the stream, the audial flight adapter
From the pain-sheath sound ascends – the Non-returner hears
Empathy release me – and the Doom Chart rise triumphant…”

~ probably misheard lyrics by Om

The shortest month usually feels the longest when you’re waiting for the frost to break under the sun’s warmth, but the Heavy Underground has a way of warming your bones. As we venture further into this desolate year, the sheer volume of music being poured into our ears remains staggering. This month our contributors listened to, agonized over and eventually submitted a total of 200 different albums. And that’s only the ones they mentioned in their quantitatively restricted submissions, as they all probably listened to hundreds of different albums each!

From the smoke-filled basements of stoner rock, to the open fields of ambient, to the echoing cathedral naves of post-rock and cavernous lairs of doom, the variety continues to prove that “heavy” is a wide spectrum, not a single point. There continues to be an astounding amount of debut records submitted — bands emerging from the ether with fully-formed identities and riffs that sound like they’ve been aging in oak barrels for decades. Well, some of them do have the distinct edge of raw spirit rotgut. Of course, we still have to navigate the foggy musical swamp we’re wading through. We aren’t interested in the perfect performance or immaculate production, let alone committee engineered pop hooks; we want grit! And the small mistakes, the driving  passion and the raw power that only comes from real people totally smashing on their real instruments.

So, here it is: the top of the Doom Charts February 2026. A one-stop shop for the best new heavy releases out there, at least the best we could find! Dig in, support the bands, and let the music do the talking and screaming.

~ Jukka ‘Shrike’ Kolehmainen (Psychotropic Caravan, Abhorrence, Shrike Listens)

Welcome to Doom Charts, representing some of the finest bloggers, journalists, radio, podcasters and reviewers from the heavy underground around the globe.  Each month, our critics submit their picks for the best new doom, sludge, metal, stoner, psychedelic and heavy rock albums.  The results are compiled and tabulated into the chart below.  This is a one-stop shop for the best new albums in the world…

25. PONTE DEL DIAVOLO – DE VENOM NATURA / NEW!
1330 Points
Doom metal, Black Metal, Progressive Metal
Turin, Italy
Season of Mist

I first came across PONTE DEL DIAVOLO when they released their debut LP, Fire Blade from the Tombs, in 2024, and it’s a real pleasure to rediscover them today with their new album, De Venom Natura. The band describes their music as blackened post-punk, a label that, while surprising, accurately reflects their multifaceted influences. One could also mention doom, dark wave, dark folk or progressive heavy rock when describing their musical universe, without being wrong. This unique sound is undoubtedly also due in part to the line-up, which includes no fewer than two bassists. One constant remains, however: all of this serves the occult and mystical vibes that the quintet has cultivated since its inception. Finally, the highly expressive vocal lines give the album a theatrical feel that wouldn’t be out of place in the Commedia dell’arte. This combination works perfectly, and the Turin group has the talent and potential to reinvent itself and enchant us for a long time to come.
~ Jay Baner (La Capsule Stoner)

24. BORRACHO – ETERNOS / NEW!
1413 Points
Stoner, Doom, Heavy Rock
Washington, D.C., USA
Self-released

BORRACHO raise a glass and tip their hats to five fallen brothers of the scene with this heartfelt collection of covers. While they don’t drastically alter the tracks, they add their own flair by beefing up the low end, injecting more fuzz, and giving the drums a heavier, more groove-focused presence. Music lives forever, and BORRACHO honor the memory of those no longer here while letting their own touch shine through on Eternos.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)

23. HERMANO – CLISSON, FRANCE / NEW!
1470 Points
Stoner Rock, Heavy Blues
California, USA
Ripple Music

Not to be outdone by the sampling of strikingly high-quality live recordings from HERMANO on “when the moon was high…”, Ripple Music has bestowed an entire live album from the legendary stoner/desert rockers upon us: “Clisson, France“. The album features twelve live tracks from HERMANO‘S 2016 performance at Hellfest, the pulsing notes of which reverberate through your ears and into your brain with velvety smooth quality and palpable energy. This performance marked a reunion of sorts for the band, their first time playing live together in eight years. In spite of having only a few hours to rehearse after arriving in Clisson, HERMANO hit the stage with electrifying dynamism, the chemistry between band members, as well as between the band and the audience, evident in every deliciously fuzzy note. I’m not big on live albums – but HERMANO is always an automatic exception.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)

22. LOUD – DIE ALONE / NEW!
1780 Points
Doom, Stoner, Lo-fi
Santiago, Chili
Self-released

From the smelly depths of Santiago’s underground, Die Alone by LOUD (doom) delivers a filthy slab of heavy doom soaked in lo-fi grime and sleazy rock energy. Built on crushing riffs, raw DIY production, and a (purple) haze of distortion, the record channels the bleak weight of doom with the reckless spirit of the Chilean underground scene. Equal parts heavy bass and cavernous riff worship, Die Alone sounds like a tape recorded in a basement where the amps are breaking and the speakers are begging for mercy.
~ Remco van Hattum (Riffsniffer)

21. PURPLE LUNG – MYSTIC VISION / NEW!
1920 Points
Doom, Stoner, Metal, Fantasy
Scranton PA, USA
Landslide Collective

Doooooooooooooom!! From the damp, dark, foggy hills of North Eastern Pennsylvania come PURPLE LUNG. This isn’t the Scranton of funny sitcom The Office but rather the Scranton of Coal Mines, Steam Engines and Industrial ruin. This band is tight af and the album sounds amazing. The other cool thing is that they look pretty young which makes me very happy. Doom Metal is alive and well and this is a prime example why.
~ Andy Kovalcik (Bandcamp-NYP-Hard&Heavy)

20. FARDO – FARDO / NEW!
1980 Points
Heavy Blues, Psych, Stoner Rock
Cordoba, Argentina
Self-released

This one came out of nowhere and sent tingles up my spine! FARDO knows exactly what they’re doing, clever compositions, long heavy psych interludes, and a heavy blues edge that takes the record to another level. The production is raw, primal, and authentic, letting the riffs breathe while keeping the grit intact. Nothing feels over-polished, just thick tones, hazy distortion, and a hypnotic flow that pulls you straight into the trance.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)

19. EARTH TONGUE – DUNGEON VISION / NEW!
2144 Points
Heavy Psych
Wellington, New-Zealand (currently : Berlin, Germany)
In The Red Records

The heavy psych rock two-piece from Wellington, now based in Berlin, has released it’s third album Dungeon Vision and what a blast! Take the Castle Rat’s voice of The Rat Queen, a grungy Cobain-fueled-with-fuzz guitar and a raw and orgasmic energy and you have the sound of that album. Each of the twelve songs are satisfactory and makes your headbang like there’s no tomorrow! After one listen, I was instantly in love with that album. I love the catchy hooks infused with psychedelia and Dungeon Vision is definitely my favourite february’s record. The universe of the two musicians is fascinating and you never get bored with these melodies.
~ Edouard Dubuisson (Les chroniques d’Eddy, MetalUniverse)

18. SURF THROUGH DEATH – III / NEW!
2180 Points
Stoner, Desert, Psych
Arizona, USA
Earth Sounds Records

A band that plays the classic desert rock sound that actually lives close to the desert is more rare than you would think these days, but SURF THROUGH DEATH is just that, and the sound on their new record certainly proves so. The Arizona band’s third release is some fuzzy and dark psych-tinged desert rock that hangs with anyone doing this kind of stuff today, referencing all the giants of this side of the genre. III is a darker, more complex affair with cool, reverb soaked vocals, next level guitar work and a tone that makes the hot, unrelenting desert sun shine though. Skate through life, SURF THROUGH DEATH. Indeed.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip, Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)

17. MOUNT PALATINE – WORMHOLY WORLD / NEW!
2208 Points
Stoner Metal, Heavy Psych
Helsinki, Finland
Argonauta Records

Finnish trio MOUNT PALATINE brilliantly showcases their ability to expertly blend contrasting sonic textures on their new album “Wormholy World“. For this sophomore release, MOUNT PALATINE combines malleable psychedelic rock with the coarse textures of stoner metal and the steely resilience of progressive metal, topping it off with raw and unfettered vocals that strain under the authenticity of their expression. Ultimately, this combination creates six longer-form tracks that have a tendency to emulate the images of desert landscapes their sound generates, delivering deceptively serene beauty, intimidating vastness, unrelenting ruggedness, and hypnotic oases…a moving kaleidoscope of the heavy and the light.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)

16. ELEANORE – BETWEEN HERE AND ANYWHERE / NEW!
2418 Points
Stoner Rock
Emden, Germany
Self-released

On their full-length debut “Between Here And Anywhere“, ELEANORE doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel, something that I often appreciate. The band retains their (noticeably more polished) signature sound, continuing to utilize classic stoner rock intertwined with vibrant alternative rock and murky grunge. This time, some whispers of trippy psych and soulful blues make an appearance here and there. True to form, the mood of ELEANORE‘S sound vacillates between a pensive, expressive state and feel-good energy via a catchy stoner groove. However, the contrast between these dispositions is infinitely starker than on the band’s previous works, as the band offers up their grittiest tones and rawest emotional expression yet.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)

15. SONS OF GULLIVER – TETRAHEDRIC HELLSCAPE CANNON / NEW!
2464 Points
Stoner, Desert Rock
Dallas, Texas, USA
Self-released

Dallas-based Stoners SONS OF GULLIVER cruise through the heavy fug of desert heat with the roof off and a bonnet that will likely be tossed to the sands with the sheer velocity and no-holds-barred attitude of “Tetrahedric Hellscape Cannon“. Halcyonic riffs, booming bass and tight drumming all convene for a lively, kerosene-fueled album!
~ Stevie Reek aka Steve De Rique (Howls from The Hollows, Doomed & StonedStoner HiVe)

14. KRÖWNN – SANTA SOMNIA / NEW!
2616 Points
Doom, Metal
Venice, Italy
Subsound Records

KRÖWNN is self-described as dark fantasy doom, and rightfully so, as they draw lyrical inspiration from various fantasy works and authors to expand their mythic storytelling. Musically, they also paint mystically involved worlds onto a canvas of both traditional and modern doom, blending slow, crushing riffs with expressive, dynamic vocals that feel ancient and ceremonial in nature, giving Santa Somnia a commanding presence you cannot ignore.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)

13. MOTORPSYCHO – THE GAIA II SPACE CORPS / NEW!
3078 Points
Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock
Trondheim, Norway
Det Nordenfjeldske Grammofonselskab

On ‘The Gaia II Space Corps‘ there’s indeed a hint of space rock to be found, but it’s mainly MOTORPSYCHO doing what they do best: freewheeling in a world where alternative and progressive rock collide to create that unique MOTORPSYCHO sound. Another fitting addition to their vast collection of splendid releases.
~ Ronny Dijksterhuis (Stoner HiVe)

12. GRAVE DISGRACE – HELLDIVER / NEW!
3201 Points
Doom
Saint-Petersburgh, Russia
Self-released

In the stoner/doom scene, heaps of bands want to sound like Ozzy Osbourne but Alexey Uvarov is something from another dimension, more a vocal clone than anything else! GRAVE DISGRACE has released it’s sixth album, Helldiver, and that record is hypnotic and doom as fuck! Loud, heavy and melodic as well, you can even find cowbell in the sound of the Russian trio. The compositions are effective, well writen and the production is quite pleasant for the most discerning ears. Hail to GRAVE DISGRACE and their doomy/epic sound that would make resurrect the Prince of Darkness himself.
~ Edouard Dubuisson (Les chroniques d’Eddy, MetalUniverse)

11. FÁTIMA – PRIMAL / NEW!
3470 Points
Doom Metal , Fuzz Rock
Paris, France
Black Robes Records

The Parisian trio is back with their fifth album, Primal. The concept is an immersion in the Ice Age with its mammoths and fur-covered hominids. We’re eager to savor this stonerized doom, full of fuzz and heavy riffs. As always, we appreciate FATIMA‘s signature: a hint of orientalism in the scales and a touch of grunge in the vocal melodies. Wishing the band a very happy tenth anniversary and thank them for this wonderful gift!
~ Thierry “Pumpkin-Fatima“ François (Metal Intégral)

10. MIENTRAS LAS ABEJAS DUERMEN – MLAD / NEW!
3720 Points
Heavy Psych, Stoner
Cádiz, Spain
Estudio Mazmorra / Kozmik Artifactz

Once again, I’m blown away by a debut album that manages to climb to the top of my monthly list, even surpassing some prestigious names. As always, it’s a real joy when this happens because it means that this band is bringing something new to the scene. MLAD, the debut LP from Spanish band MIENTRAS LAS ABEJAS DUERMEN, is exceptional. Their heavy psych has everything I love: a rich sound, demanding structures, hypnotic rhythms and captivating melodies. Even the Spanish lyrics add an extra dimension to the subtle yet undeniably present Andalusian influences throughout this debut masterpiece!
~ Jay Baner (La Capsule Stoner)

9. STARGO – VIOLET SKIES / NEW!
4080 Points
Stoner Metal, Stoner Rock
Dortmund, Germany
Self-released

STARGO brings us their most metal-forward sound to date on their new album “Violet Skies“, offering up emotionally charged bursts of gritty intensity. At the same time, the band holds fast to their roots by peppering in their trademark spacey psychedelia, alternative rock energy, and stoner rock groove. The result is an evolved but authentic sound that is by far STARGO‘S most expressive yet.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)

8. L’IRA DEL BACCANO – THE PRAISE OF FOLLY / NEW!
4596 Points
Prog, Psych, Instrumental, Space Rock
Rome, Italy
Subsound Records

Instrumental space-prog heavyweights L’IRA DEL BACCANO are back with their 5th full length on Subsound records, The Praise of Folly. For the uninitiated, that band traffics in Rush-esque prog filtered through mind bending psychedelia and space rock bliss. As is their wont, The Praise of Folly consists of three long-form tracks, the first of which constitutes the entirety of the album’s A-side. As is the case on just abourt everything they’ve released, their songs are journeys: through the celestial, through the wilderness, through the waves. It doesn’t really matter where; their music is going to take you on a damn good ride. Just strap in, sit back and enjoy it. For my money, the new album is their best since at least 2014’s Terra 42, but there’s no wrong place to start in their catalog. Press play and start exploring.
~ Ben Bellum (The Greatest Thing You’ve Never Heard)

7. ELECTRIC HYDRA – FROM THE FALLEN / NEW!
5472 Points
Hard Rock, Stoner Rock, Heavy Metal
Småland, Sweden
Majestic Mountain Records

It’s been a little over five years since ELECTRIC HYDRA released their acclaimed self-titled debut album.  And now they are finally back with their sophomore album, From the Fallen.  A lot has changed in the world since 2020.  Now the question is, has this band changed as well?  Thankfully, the short answer is no.  They are still bringing the same high-energy hard rock and playing it with their signature punk attitude.  And nothing exemplifies that fact more than the opening track, “Scent of Blood”.  It rocks, it rolls, and it’s catchy as hell.  After hearing it, one may wonder if they can keep the momentum going for the whole album.  Well, don’t worry.  As the old saying goes, this album is all killer with no filler.  Listeners will be overjoyed by all the awesome riffs that get woven into memorable songs that I assure they’ll want to hear again soon after the last track plays.
~ Jamie Laszlo (Sea of Tranquility)

6. SUPLECS – HYMNS UNDER A BLOOD MOON SKY / NEW!
5790 Points
Stoner, Punk, Sludge
New Orleans, LA, USA
Ripple Music

If you’re fortunate enough to have the lower back pain that proves you were part of the stoner rock scene at the turn of the century, you’ll no doubt have fond memories of SUPLECS who toured frequently and released killer albums on the fabled Man’s Ruin Records, Small Stone, and others. Fortunately for us and everyone else, SUPLECS are BACK! With their first album in 15 years and their senses of fun and furious groove are intact. Rather than sit on Sabbathian laurels, Suplecs combine hard charging heavy rock with New Orleans swagger and a solid dose of punk rock attitude. The result is a serious engaging listen (probably most analogous to their debut, Wrestlin’ with my Lady Friend, for those of you keeping score) that encourages heads to bang and beer to flow. Make sure you get to the party before the keg runs dry!
~ Ben Bellum (The Greatest Thing You’ve Never Heard)

5. OATH – UNTEACH / NEW!
7056 Points
Doom
Athens, Greece
Self-released

Unteach“, the new album from Greek doomsters OATH, is a gem from start to finish, offering up a solid slab of classic proto doom sound that could easily have teleported straight in from the genre’s peak in the mid-to-late-1980s. You’ll hear the thick and hazy riffs we all know and love punctuated by some energetic bursts, occult-themed lyrics, and an appropriately frantic vocal style (think Witchfinder General). Best of all, just when you think you’ve heard the top song on the album, it only gets better.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)

4. OREYEON – THE GROTESQUE WITHIN / NEW!
13266 Points
Stoner, Grunge, Psych
La Spezia, Italy
Heavy Psych Sounds

OREYEON {ORE-eye-on} : noun, proper: An Italian stoner rock band known for interstellar fuzz-laden riffs, hypnotic melodies, and powerful celestial vocals, blending heavy psych influences with space-inspired atmospheres. Their 2026 album The Grotesque Within showcases the band’s intensity through dense soundscapes, layered instrumentation, immersive production, and is further enhanced by rich vocal harmonies that add depth and cosmic resonance. The album is widely regarded as a standout release and an anticipated favorite for the year, solidifying OREYEON’s position in the stoner/doom genres and The Heavy Underground.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)

3. BELZEBONG – THE END IS HIGH / NEW!
15645 Points
Psychedelic, Stoner, Doom, Sludge
Kielce, Poland
Heavy Psych Sounds

If you ask anyone who knows a little bit about doom metal to name an instrumental band, then I’m sure that BELZEBONG would be among the most named bands. These Polish guys released a new album and I quickly declared it as a “potential INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR”. But the more I listen to it, the more I come to the conclusion that they outdid themselves! Is this the best BELZEBONG album yet?!? I’m inclined to say yes…
~ Rob Hammer (Rob Hammer, Doom/Stoner/Sludge/Psychedelic)

2. JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS – INEXORABLE OPPOSITES / NEW!
20878 Points
Grunge, Stoner, Psych, Doom
Melbourne, Australia
Magnetic Eye Records

The world of JACK HARLON is not dead on Inexorable Opposites, but the line between the creator and the character has certainly been blurred, and the outcome could not have been better. Only recently did I come to know that Jack is the fictional hero that band leader Tim Coutts-Smith created for the universe that makes up the band’s amazing back catalog. Jack is a sort of Ziggy Stardust alter ego that has really driven Coutts-Smith’s songwriting and output up until this point. The new record still features Jack, but Coutts-Smith has created his most personal material in the form of the eight tracks on what is his best record so far.The songwriting is next level, with Coutts-Smith incorporating more of his personal experiences and work in the mental health field into this set of songs, and new drummer Brayden Becher making the Harlon sound so much bigger and so much heavier. An amazing next chapter in the adventures of both Jack and Tim.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip, Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)

1. WEEDPECKER – V / NEW!
26892 Points
Psych, Prog, Stoner
Warszawa, Poland
Heavy Psych Sounds

There are not many bands out there for which the name of the band does not match their music much more than WEEDPECKER. If you were unaware of the majestic beauty of their four records previous to their new one, aptly titled V, you would think they were another pot-obsessed stoner band looking for new things to use as bongs and then writing songs about the experience. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, some of my favorite songs are about the love of the magic plant. WEEDPECKER, however, are something completely different, and somewhat indescribable when trying to put their sound into words. Proggy, spacy, psych stoner rock with all sorts of stuff swirling around at any given time would be my elevator pitch if someone asked me what the band sounds like. That can mean a lot of different things to different people, but for the Polish band’s latest, let’s use words like epic, beautiful, and breathtaking and start from there.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip, Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour)

At this point in their career, it only makes sense for WEEDPECKER to pause and reflect, which is exactly what they did on their fifth album “V“. While the band continues to expertly meld the heavy and the light on this release, blending rumbling riffs and delicate atmospheres into a homogenous, spellbinding cocktail, “V” is particularly ethereal. Throughout the album, gossamer threads weave intricate patterns, often passing through some captivating spacey moments, gradually building in density. Not long after reaching peak fortitude, these bulwarks finally give way to a cathartic overspill of emotional expression. The result is an undeniably dreamy but deeply immersive album that, for WEEDPECKER, encompasses their most personal work to date.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)

A magical work in which the Polish band explores its most intimate side. They do so with captivating songs featuring ethereal vocals and meticulously crafted psych-progressive instrumentation. Evolving into more progressive territory, WEEDPECKER demonstrates their maturity as a band. With a similar approach to bands like ElDER, the intrinsic symphonic quality of their songs places the listener in a magical world brimming with beauty and sensitivity. Heavy psych bathed in beautiful symphonic compositions gives their heavy sound a new dimension. With a greater emphasis on keyboards and synthesizers, they manage to immerse the listener in a relaxing soundscape where every detail is delicately crafted. With a progressive jazz feel, they envelop us in a cushioned sonic environment where the band reveals its most intimate and personal side. This is reflected in actions that touch the listener’s heart. A contemporary and innovative sound that doesn’t forget the past. Undoubtedly one of the best albums of the year.
~ Roberto Lucas (Denpa Fuzz)
