There were hints of what to expect on Part one of this project, but here, on Amnesia Island, The Archetype fully succeeds in creating a thoroughly original, artistic statement while including sonic signatures we’ve all come to love after decades of experiences in this genre. I could gush for hours about this music, but I’ll be succinct: This is right up there with Shadow of Jupiter’s Porta Coeli and King Bastard’s It Came From the Void as my favorite record of this decade. It is simply perfect, and there’s nothing else quite like it out there. Amnesia Island is currently running away with my Album of the Year and is about to lap the runner-up. This isn’t exaggeration, this isn’t hyperbole. The album is that damn good!”
