Who’s gonna be the Goat? Still spinning that cool Dixie Goat I see! Well, Friday is still here… And independent booking agency and record label Piranha Music has been delivering an incredible amount of good releases over the years. And after the small break they took, they come back with this majestic release… PRZEKLĘTE WODY by WIJ… Hardrock, proto, a bit of doom and a touch of the occult and together it all makes for something wild and wonderful…
Or as Frazer Jones stated: “Not sure what tag would fit Wij’s music, it’s certainly heavy but whether it could be classed as doom or occult rock is debatable. maybe a hybrid of the two. It is certainly very good, and those vocals (sang in the bands native tongue) are out of this world!”
And Thierry “Pumpkin-T“ François said: “Heavy and fuzzy poetry… this opus is a UFO that comes from beyond space. It’s unclassifiable, delicious, totally amazing. The production is excellent, the singer is incredible and the thrill is inevitable.”
Their own words: “After 8-months break we’re back with another release in our label. This time we have new EP from warsaw-based trio WIJ, which is probably the hottest fresh name on polish occult / doom scene. Consisting of band members that have gained plenty of experience in other musical endeavors over the past years, WIJ crawls in the shadows and plays with the idea of minimalist 70’s-style proto-metal combined with classic rock compositions and unique, high-pitch female Polish vocals. Lyrically, the band touches upon themes of superstition, darkness, eroticism, foul traditions and cosmic civilizations, which altogether forms a rather intriguing blend that is all so well supported with baritone guitar passages and punishing drum work.”
