Kal-El – Dark Majesty
It’s still Friday somewhere? Right? And if not, who really cares about days, weeks, or time in general. It doesn’t really exist anyway… All we really care about is heavy music! And especially Kal-El, just like Tony Iommi, who also digs this Norwegian juggernaut! Surely, after reading about it on the Doom Charts… Of course… Right? Ho ho ho!
Well, Kal-El’s album Dark Majesty wasn’t Number One on the August Doom Charts for nothing, Reek of STOOM wrote the blurb back then: “Norwegian Noise Druids Kal-El epitomize the Sound of Doom. Their hybrid influences of BS, EW and CM are worn like proud bandanas, and rightly so! Their new offering “Dark Majesty” encapsulates the band’s ethos: create authentic, credible, and exhilarating Doom metal in time-honored fashion. Not only do they accomplish it, but they also surpass and raise the standard higher than ever. That classic Sabs background is there, but Kal-El seem to have evolved it…run with it, made it something all of their own – and THAT is the beginning of Legends. No-Brainer for AOTY contention.”
Their own blurb:
“Kal-El is the fuzzed-out step-child of hard rock and heavy metal, often with hints of psychedelic and blues rock as well as doom metal. Songs typically feature a bass-heavy groove, detuned guitars and mind-expanding lyrics…”
And they have their own beer as well!
