BOG WIZARD – JOURNEY THROUGH THE DYING LANDS
Another Festive Freebie you say?! Yes, the gifts keep on coming! This one landed on the October 2024 Doom Charts with their newest release and with their 2020 From The Mire album they slithered their way onto spot 20 of the July 2020 Charts. And we all love their murky doom and sludge riffage, translating role playing games, table top fantasy and all sorts of others brilliant stuff into their very unique sound. Beastly and magical, JOURNEY THROUGH THE DYING LANDS is BOG WIZARD‘s fine new release! They call it NERD DOOM, and we love it!

Bog Wizard is a three piece Doom/Sludge/Stoner metal band out of West Michigan, US, riffing off the satanic panic era, with heavy fantasy/ D&D themes. Bog Wizard crafts narratively driven songs, often telling tale of the Wizard himself, as well as other fantasy set stories. Taking inspiration from their table top gaming antics, books, and movies, Bog Wizard seamlessly blends social commentary with their unique style of storytelling, and a heaping dose of the fattest, heaviest riffs around.
Debuting in 2018 with their EP Campaign as a two piece featuring guitarist/ vocalist Ben Lombard and drummer/ producer Harlen Linke, Bog Wizard quickly attracted bass player Colby Lowman and created their colossal 2020 double LP From the Mire, quickly setting a high bar for their particular brand of doom.
Not ones to rest, they quickly followed it up with a split album with Dust Lord, Four Tales of the Strangefeaturing the massive track Gelatinous Cube, in 2021, and then immediately after their follow up LP, Miasmic Purple Smoke the same year, in collaboration with The Dregs Records.
In 2022 Bog Wizard combined efforts with the UK sludge masters Froglord to created their collaborative concept split album A Frog in the Bog, telling tale of the titular Bog Wizard and the Froglord himself having a chance encounter, their conflict, and ultimate conclusion.
Bog Wizard then began collaboration projects with multiple Table Top RPG products, primarily focusing in the Mork Borg game, releasing the 7 Aboard the Schackel Soundtrack with the accompanying game module in 2022, following it up with the Deck of Ruin & Revelation Soundtrack in 2023.
Bog Wizard has just recently (Oct 2024) released their third full length album, Journey Through the Dying Lands which in collaboration with Madness Hearts Games in a multimedia experience, coupled with the published anthology book of the same name. This anthology features many short stories, including one written by Bog Wizard drummer and producer, Harlen Linke, called I, Mycelium, which was then translated to the album in a 20-minute epic opening track.
Bog Wizard is entering 2025 with the wind at their backs, preparing to record their fourth full length album and continue touring the United States.
