The Absurd – Build The Wall
(Los Angeles, CA)
Well, well, well, what do we have here? Honing in on the holiday season and queuing in on all the end of the year lists across the internet, its refreshing to find out on bands that got lost in the shuffle. The Absurd based in Los Angeles, CA just popped up on our radar here at the Doom Charts, and although they are not Doom, once again, they are an exemplary example of rock n roll with a wide range of influence ingrained with enough grit to keep the heavy boys happy, yet poppy enough to pack a mid sized venue of casual fans. They are doing just that after talking with the band’s manager and currently slated for a residency gig at The Satellite in LA where they wow’d the venue so much on their album release that they landed the gig as a resident act. Big props to these guys and they were kind enough to kick down some codes for all the readers of the charts. Take a listen and let us know what you think.
We’ll be publishing one more monthly Chart for December in a couple weeks, and follow that up with a Top 100 albums that dominated the Charts in 2018. Until then, check these young lads out.
“What’s absurd is the fact that I only just discovered these guys at the end of the year (2018) and the realization that this highly accessible, yet boldly dynamic rock n roll has been kicking around for a couple years. WOW. The combination of infectious vocals, deep throbbing bass lines and impeccable groove is off the charts with both mainstream and underground appeal. These young dudes have got some potential that’s already crashing waves over the beaches of Los Angeles, CA.”
Favorite track: Squashing Pumpkins.
