FRIDAY FREEBIE – OBSERVERS

OBSERVERS – THE AGE OF THE MACHINE ENTITIES

Dare to venture into the cosmic unknown and embark upon the epic sci-fi doom that is OBSERVERS? “Without your space helmet, Dave? You’re going to find that rather difficult.” From Tasmania’s Martin Kennedy, of ALL INDIA RADIO, comes his new band OBSERVERS and the debut albm The Age of the Machine Entities, a sonic interpretation of the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Steve Howe (Outlaws of the Sun) said: OBSERVERS play a winning never-ending style of melodic Post-Rock/Post-Metal sounds which allows the band to explore a wealth of different Instrumental Doom Metal grooves with iconic soundbytes from the film appearing here and there. The record can be a technical marvel with the massive amount of tech-metal beats and classic guitar shredding that OBSERVERS dominate their music with. You can expect to hear some wicked amounts of Electronica sounds which adds a whole new creative flow to the album and provide a cautionary tale of Space Exploration like the source material it’s based upon.”

From the PR wire, Kyle SB (Good Boy PR, Stoner HiVe) said: “Following up on the single “Frozen Lattices of Light”, Martin Kennedy of ALL INDIA RADIO fame brings us the cosmic doom epic “The Age of the Machine Entities”, his new instrumental band OBSERVERS ‘ debut album. Released into the universe on March 4, 2024, “The Age of the Machine Entities” is a fusion of artistic brilliance that pays homage to the timeless mystery of “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

With decades of experience honing his craft in ambient rock outfit ALL INDIA RADIO, Kennedy pivots into the dark expanses of doom metal with OBSERVERS . His mastery of mood and atmosphere proves a natural fit, and across nine tracks the listener is treated to an instrumental reimagining of Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C Clark’s sci-fi epic.

Tonally, the darkness and mystery that define 2001 are at the heart of “The Age of the Machine Entities”, and OBSERVERS chart a musical course through Dave Bowman’s journey into the unknown. Strap in for takeoff with the searing guitars of opener “Into The Eye”, and brace for the appropriately heart-pounding rush of “Pod Bay Doors”, featuring a mind-melting solo from PSYCROPTIC‘s Joe Haley, who also recorded the album.”

Their own words:

The Age of the Machine Entities is entirely instrumental and takes us on a cosmic journey through melodic metal, atmospheric riffs and psychedelic ambient sequences with echoes of GOJIRA, BLACK SABBATH and TANGERINE DREAM and the early 70’s work of PINK FLOYD.

The album was mixed by Joe Haley from Tasmania’s legendary PSYCROPTIC and the line up is Rich Gray (ANNIHILATOR) on bass, Chris Bohm on drums, and guest soloists including Joe Haley and Jake Weber.

The all important visual aspect is brought to life by Ryan T Hancock (known for work with KING BUFFALO, AGNOXIA, ROBOT GOD), who created the mesmerizing album artwork.”
