As we almost say goodbye to Friday over on Howland and Baker Islands, we have one more Friday Freebie for you all! A weird one. An old one. It’s time to party like it’s 1999! For this is the sole album delivered by the five from Helmond and Eindhoven in the Netherlands that coined the term: Diesel Blues… This is VENTILATORS! And yes, that’s where Black Sabbath got their idea for the cover image for the 13 album…
Ronny Dijksterhuis (Stoner HiVe) wrote: “In the late nineties Eindhoven,The Netherlands, was dubbed Rock City, because the vast amount of great rock and metal bands coming from the area. Household names like Peter Pan Speedrock, Candybar Planet and 7 Zuma 7 were the frontrunners, but there were lots of other great bands that weren’t as well-known. One of them was the diesel powered enigmatic VENTILATORS, hailing from Eindhoven and the neighbouring city of Helmond. Amongst the members were Ruud van den Heuvel (now in Phe, who are about to record a new album) and Guido Meulendijks (now in Morton Railroad, who unfortunately recently called it quits). VENTILATORS’ one and only album was released way back in 1999 and can be heard on Bandcamp and downloaded as NYP. But as we all know a free NYP download won’t add the release to your collection, so the boys have come to the rescue and handed us some codes to give away to our beloved readers. Grab them while they’re still available.”
Their own words:
Ventilators was a five piece ‘Diesel Blues’ band from Eindhoven/Helmond, The Netherlands. They coined the term ‘Diesel Blues’ in 1999 for their spiced up bluesrock music. They released one self titled album in 1999. Only two members are still active in other bands. The drummer is now playing in Phe and one guitar player in Morton Railroad.
All songs by Ventilators. Recorded and mixed at Soundwave Studio in, Gemert, The Netherlands. Mastered by Toon The Quant. Lay-out, design by Bart Veenstra, Jasper Elings & Bart van Sinten.
