“Two albums diverged from heaviness
~ adapted from The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
And I am lucky I could journey with both
And be a traveler, with no weariness
Or suffer solitariness
I could dive into all of the Doom Charts undergrowth…“

25. ADRIFT – DRY SOIL / NEW!
1393 Points
Post Metal, Doom
Madrid, Spain
Monolito Records
Dry Soil is ADRIFT’s fourth full length and first since 2019’s stunning Pure. For the uninitiated, if you’ve been missing Neurosis, especially their more uptempo and aggressive work and enjoy a harsh, sometimes blackened vocal, ADRIFT will scratch that itch and dig their fingernails in deep enough to start ripping at your flesh. Coming in unexpectedly on the last day of the month, Dry Soil stands out as one of the very best albums in the strongest January in memory.
~ Ben Bellum (The Greatest Thing You’ve Never Heard)
24. COSMIC MARAUDER – MERCURY HAZE / NEW!
1419 Points
Psych, Stoner, Doom
Düsseldorf, Germany
Self-released
Sometimes you come across albums where it is difficult to describe their content without confusing the reader. ‘Mercury Haze’, the new album by the German band COSMIC MARAUDER, is one of them. After a first listen, I found certain details that seemed interesting to me. Between moments of stoner-doom, there was an untamed spirit more typical of hard-rock and 70s proto-metal, but also true abysses in which heavy psychedelia is interpreted with great success. Their raw songs contain elements of rough and orthodox stoner, monolithic doom beats, but also blues. A blues hidden between grooves that exude a murky, rough sound, but which also contain dreamy melodies and an untamed character. The surprising thing about the case is that this happens in each of the songs.
~ Roberto Lucas (Denpa Fuzz)
23. TTTDC + SONS OF THE IONIAN SEA – TTTDSEA / NEW!
1512 Points
70’s Heavy Blues, Prog, Groove, Stoner, Doom
Melbourne, Australia
Self-released
The split release “TTTDSEA” by Australian bands TTTDC and SONS OF THE IONIAN SEA is a mesmerizing journey into dynamic super heavy blues, heavily infused with a 1970’s vibe, complemented by hints of doom and stoner throughout. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, both bands capture the essence of an era while injecting their unique modern twist. The fellas in both bands are beyond respected long standing giants of the Melbourne heavy rock scene. And here’s a fun fact – both bands share 3 of the same members, with just the drummer being unique to each band. Even with this shared talent, both bands very much have their own feel and flavour. TTTDC are a bit more frantic at times, with unpredictable prog twists and turns, and whilst SONS OF THE IONIAN SEA dabble in that space too, they have more of a direct powerhouse kick to the face at times. TTTDC kicks off the EP with 4 tracks of raw energy, heavy riffs and powerful group vocals that evoke the spirit of the blues rock giants of the past. The band’s ability to blend the heavy blues with prog and punk undertones is intense and captivating. The intricate guitar work and the driving bass lines paint a vivid sonic picture that lingers long after the music stops. Need some old school doom? TTTDC serve up a ridiculously decent take of Pentagram’s ‘Forever My Queen’. Too good! Sons of the Ionian Sea continue the journey, echoing the exceptional 1970’s vibe but with their own distinct exotic flavor. They bring a heavy blues framework inundated with melodic riffing, undeniable swing and groove as well as that signature group vox at times, adding luxurious layers of depth and complexity. I’ve been hanging out for new tracks from these guys for so long, and now that I’ve heard these 3 new tracks I am in dire need of more, immediately! All 3 Sons tracks on offer here are solid gold of the purest variety. Please check out their debut (and only) previous album ‘A New Deadly Intravenous’ released in 2012. These blokes are holding out on us, I reckon they’ve got a mile of unreleased material up their sleeves….Cmonnnn give it over! Overall, “TTTDSEA” is a powerful showcase of the talent and versatility of TTTDC and SONS OF THE IONIAN SEA. TTTDC have the frantic electrifying angle covered, and SONS OF THE IONIAN SEA dabble a bit in that same territory while at times taking their foot off the gas and swinging heavy sledgehammer riffs into the mix. This split release not only highlights the individual strengths of both bands but also their collaborative synergy and songwriting brilliance. Overall it’s a thoroughly kickass listening experience drenched in dynamic groove that is sure to resonate with fans of heavy blues and 70’s rock alike.

22. ASTRAL WIZARD – REANIMATED / NEW!
1620 Points
Stoner, Desert
Chicago, Illinois, USA
Hog Hole Records
Chicago Stoner/Desert trio ASTRAL WIZARD return, fuzzing and fizzing, through 8 tracks of Homegrown Rock n Roll that puts the pedal to the metal and rips from start to finish. Good Vibe music for Good Times!
~ Stevie Reek (Howls from The Hollows, Doomed&Stoned, Stoner HiVe)
21. HEXJAKT – HEXJAKT / NEW!
1704 Points
Doom Metal, Sludge Metal, Stoner Metal
Westmanland, Sweden
Self-released
A new challenger by the name of HEXJAKT has entered the Doom/Stoner Metal arena with influences ranging from Electric Wizard, High On Fire, Mastodon and CONAN. With a grizzled and fuzzy attitude, HEXJAKT taps into the primal Sludge Metal sound for a heavier and menacing presence which comes into life on the excellent opening track of Rites Of Fire. The vocals are mostly clean based with a certain Matt Pike energy and influence to them. Throw in shades of Psychedelic and Progressive attitude as HEXJAKT begin to dominate the COSMIC landscape with downtuned guitars that resonate a certain classic era of RELAPSE RECORDS from the mid-noughties. HEXJAKT moves firmly into the LOW & SLOW and GUITAR REVERB world on tracks such as Thunderous Skies and Valley Of The Dead. With these guys being Swedish, the band brings that classic style of Swedish Doom/Stoner Metal riffology to the table that builds upto some epic instrumental solos and passages throughout. The underground scene will no doubt worship at the ALTAR and CHURCH of HEXJAKT where the riffs speak volume. HEXJAKT pays huge respects to the legendary bands of the genre whilst forging some downright brutally original grooves of their own making.
~ Steve Howe (Outlaws of the Sun)
20. BLACK SADHU – ASHES OF AETHER / NEW!
1810 Points
Doom, Heavy Psych
Berlin, Germany
Self-released
BLACK SADHU deliver, with “Ashes Of Aether“, poetry prose and crushing metal wrapped up in a conceptual theme forewarning us of our civilisations demise at the hands of advancing technology, bleak subject matter given a suitably dark but utterly compelling musical platform. It does seem somewhat ironic though that many of those reading this and those that are listening to this superb album will be doing so on the very devices BLACK SADHU are trying to warn us about.
~ Frazer Jones (Desert Psychlist)
19. CRUCES – SPITE / NEW!
1820 Points
Blues, Heavy Psych, Stoner Rock
Pittsburgh PA, USA
Self-released
Unfortunately both their Bandcamp and FB pages say they broke up but thankfully CRUCES gives us this great second album as a swan song. The musicianship on this heavy bluesy psych album is amazing but the vocals are the real treat here to me. Like a rock and roll Banshee possessed to set the universe a blaze the vocalist, Naomi howls with pure emotion and commanding power. It’s a shame they broke up because I’d love to see them tearing it up live like real good heavy rock should be done.
~ Andy Kovalcik (Bandcamp-NYP-Hard&Heavy)
18. WEED DEMON – THE DOOM SCROLL / NEW!
1917 Points
Doom, Sludge, Stoner Metal
Columbus, Ohio, USA
Electric Valley Records
The legend gracing the top of WEED DEMON‘s Bandcamp page says “Pure Fucking Sludge Doom” and for the most part that is exactly what they deliver with their latest release “The Doom Scroll“, admittedly they do go slightly off-piste by finishing with a walk on the lysergic side blues number but then where is it written that you can trust a demon to follow rules, especially one of the “weed” variety.
~ Frazer Jones (Desert Psychlist)
17. NAMBULIS – SLEEPING WHALES / NEW!
2060 Points
Stoner Rock, Psych Rock
Freiburg Im Breisgau, Germany
Self-released
NAMBULIS is the unexpected guest, the big surprise of this Doom Chart. Sleeping Whales, their first album, is totally immersive and offers magnificent dreamlike soundscapes. This semi-instrumental album is based on delicious contrasts between deep meditative moments and powerful electric storms. By replacing the tradition of classic stoner with that of post-metal, NAMBULIS renews the rules of contemporary psychedelic rock.
~ Thierry “Pumpkin-T“ François (Metal Intégral)
16. TFNRSH – BOOK OF CIRCLES / NEW!
2255 Points
Progressive Rock, Psychedelic, Art
Tübingen, Germany
TFNRSH Records
Hear the sound of life surfing Saturn’s rings and feel the magnificent heat of the sun as its starbursts lift out from the extraordinary to touch upon all in orbit with a sonic radiation that can kill, heal and regenerate new worlds. Where some could find this mysterious and searching, others will find it rejuvenating and colorful.
~ Bobby Rayfield (Monuments In Ruin, Inherent Records, Mystery Pick)
15. FIDEL A GO GO – DISS ENGAGED / NEW!
2496 Points
Math Rock, Progressive Rock
Brisbane, Australia
Bebap Records
FIDEL A GO GO is a band from Australia who, with their infectious blend of math rock, prog, stoner, grunge, and hard rock, delivers a candid portrait of some of the ugliest parts of the modern world. Their new album Diss Engaged keeps true to the signature sound the band developed on their 2022 debut while adding layers of darkness, realism, and grit, digging deeper into what ails us.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
14. RUST BUCKET – RUST BUCKET / NEW!
2568 Points
Stoner, Doom, Sludge
St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA
Glory or Death Records
Wow, RUST BUCKET are here to rock! The band are firing on all cylinders on this debut, dumping fuel and shifting gears across ten tracks with unrelenting energy and attitude. Super fuzzy guitars, heavy bass, pummeling rhythms, and raspy styled vocals are their calling card, and they do what they do well. From the green flag you’re hit with the stoner track ‘Four on the Floor’, until the last track, the punk inspired ‘Transmission’ and all points in between you’re in for one hell of a ride. While they are hard to pin down to one genre, just know that if you’re a fan of all things heavy, like the oxidation on that old jalopy RUST BUCKET have you covered.
~ Jon McGough (Stoner Rock Army, Stoner HiVe, Outlaws Of The Sun)
13. BLOOD LEMON – PETITE DEATHS / NEW!
3146 Points
Indie/Stoner Doom
Boise, Idaho, USA
Moon Ruins
BLOOD LEMON is NOT a Stoner/Doom band, but they’ve released one of the decade’s finest Stoner/Doom recordings. These women could easily open for Alison Krauss one night, do the same for Sleater-Kinney, and close out the week supporting Monolord. There is no band on the planet like BLOOD LEMON, and the “small bursts of either pleasure or despair” on Petite Deaths will haunt you or exhilarate you and generally do both. But the love and respect they have for the Stoner/Doom scene makes this album of the month for me. All Hails!
~ Scott Spiers (CleanAndSoberStoner, Monster Riff)
12. IDOL LORD – THE OTHER SIDE / NEW!
3302 Points
Stoner Rock, Desert Rock
Los Angeles, California, USA
Glory or Death Records
IDOL LORD is a band from Los Angeles whose debut, The Other Side, has made a very positive first impression on the heavy underground with its six tracks of deliciously trippy, viscous, distorted, and down-tuned stoner/psych goodness. There’s much more going on, however, as the band incorporates a ton of dimension into their sound, ultimately concocting something that is both steadfast in its weightiness and fluid and warm in its desert tones. The gritty, hazy atmospheres are topped with gruffly melodic vocals that are altogether hypnotic in their consistency, delivering highly infectious choruses. With this promising debut and a slew of impressive live gigs under their belt, IDOL LORD immediately demonstrates that they’re here to stay (and that’s more than ok with us)!
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
11. LAND MAMMAL – SURVIVE THE HIVE / NEW!
3900 Points
Heavy Psych, Alt Rock, Fuzz Rock
Dallas, Texas, USA
Self-released
Dallas heavy psych outfit LAND MAMMAL make a welcome return with their new EP, Survive The Hive. These 4 electric tracks of riff heavy, fuzzed out, psychedelic goodness will get you banging your head and longing for the summer to arrive. Survive The Hive is the perfect antidote to the January blues and we’re all buzzing now!
~ Bob “Mr. Weird Beard” Baker (More Fuzz Podcast)
10. BANDSHEE – THE LONG ROAD / NEW!
4191 Points
Heavy Psych, Stoner Rock, Hard Rock
Louisville, Kentucky, USA
Self-released
Let’s get one thing out of the way: the guitar tone across the entirety of The Long Road is some of the most pleasing mid-range that have ever delighted my eardrums. The sound engineering and production values across the entire record are fantastic, for that matter, and BANDSHEE has taken the opportunity to significantly improve their overall approach to songwriting. That’s quite a feat considering they were already a hell of a band! On The Long Road, expect to hear fun, uptempo numbers alongside the slow, doomy ones. Romana goes the extra length and sounds as if she her self is a banshee on a few of these tracks, seemingly shredding her vocal chords in the process. This is a hell of a way to start a new year!
~ Jacob ‘Reverend Fuzzcut’ Baker (CleanAndSoberStoner, Monster Riff)
9. DAX RIGGS – 7 SONGS FOR SPIDERS / NEW!
4350 Points
Blues Rock, Grunge
Lafayette, Louisiana, USA
Bright Shadow LLC
7 Songs for Spiders could realistically be translated to “7 Psalms for the Jaded Realist”. Each track candidly explores demons (both real and those that reside within us), death, love, belief (or lack thereof), and the afterlife. In the midst of all of this darkness, there’s a brutal but peacefully relayed honesty and acceptance of one’s inability to care, comply, or jump on the bandwagon, delivered via Riggs’ soothing vocals. 7 Songs for Spiders is presented as a hymnal of sorts, the songs deeply grounded in swampy southern gospel tones, inspired by the culture of Louisiana where they were authored. This is coupled with an undercurrent of electronic groove, muddy grunge, and enough buzz and hum to satisfy the stoner rock fan. 7 Songs for Spiders isn’t an album to be taken lightly; it’s incredibly thought-provoking and relatable, made to be savored and pondered upon. More than anything else, it’s downright comforting, a reminder that life is often about finding a way to amicably reside alongside both your inner demons and those that hang out around you.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
8. HEY SATAN – FLAMINGOES / NEW!
4752 Points
Heavy Rock, Stoner Rock
Lausanne, Switzerland
Cold Smoke Records
Formed by longtime friends, HEY SATAN has been making music since about 2017. The band is influenced by a wide variety of heavy music, including Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, and Kyuss, all of which are evident in their kaleidoscopic sound. On their newest release, Flamingoes, HEY SATAN continues their habit of ensuring each track packs a powerful punch. Constructed from a baseline of warm and fuzzy stoner that’s never stingy in its heaviness, each song smooths things out in the chorus with soaring heavy rock tones. This has a way of carving many facets into HEY SATAN‘s sound, providing variety and a ton of scintillating dimension. HEY SATAN is the perfect band for the stoner/desert fan who appreciates both the heavier and lighter sides of the genre, while giving nods to the influences that helped mold the style’s modern landscape.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
7. WYATT E. – ZAMĀRU ULTU QEREB ZIQQURATU, PART 1 / NEW!
5085 Points
Avant-garde Psych, World Music
Liège, Belgium
Heavy Psych Sounds
What an incredible album! Zamāru ultu qereb ziqquratu – part. 1 is a delicious mix on doom bases, with drone, ambient, post-metal and Middle Eastern vibes. WYATT E. claims to write music for the gods and I think they succeed to. The narration speaks of loss, exile, meeting of cultures through the example of the exodus of the Jews to Babylon in 600 BC. The Belgian band welcomes 2 amazing female singers, one is Israeli, the other is of Iranian origin. They sing in the same project, one in Aramaic and the other one in Akkadian. This is marvelous and this is a great lesson of humanity that resonates today in such an intense way!
~ Thierry “Pumpkin-E“ François (Metal Intégral)
6. HEDONIST – EAT THUS / NEW!
5380 Points
Stoner, Metal
Genk, Belgium
Polderrecords
A convincing marriage of stoner and metal. Heavy and relentless with lots of groove. You could rightfully say this is a match made in hell, with Satan burning his fingers while bringing the devil horn salute.
~ Ronny Dijksterhuis (Stoner HiVe)
5. PENTAGRAM – LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE / NEW!
7514 Points
Doom, Stoner, Proto
Alexandria, Virginia
Heavy Psych Sounds
Bobby Liebling is the OG, real deal doom/metal/rocker who has led (and been the only recurring member of) the incredibly influential and flat-out awesome band PENTAGRAM since, seemingly impossibly, before I was born. Liebling has seen and done it all, and it is amazing that not only is he putting out killer music in 2025 (their first demo came out in 1973!) but that he has survived all of these years. Heavy Psych Sounds brings us the new record with an all-new band. Lightning In A Bottle, their 10th album, is PENTAGRAM sounding new and fresh but still very much Liebling’s band through and through. Tony Reed makes everything better, so having him now actually in PENTAGRAM AND doing all of the recording and producing, you know this record is going to sound amazing, and it does. All 11 tracks (14 on the deluxe edition) are worth your time if you like the old school doom/proto stuff, or if you like Tony Reed’s work in Mos Generator, or if you just like killer heavy rock delivered by a legend who we all owe a debt of gratitude to for leading the way on the music we love.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip)
4. ZOAHR – MOSAIC / NEW!
15520 Points
Desert Rock, Heavy Blues, Space Rock
Pirmasens, Germany
Self-released
With the ability to surprise fans of different musical styles, ZOAHR present an impressive album that will not leave you indifferent. With songs built on the foundations of old-school rock, these guys know how to captivate the listener with heavy-blues and psychedelic stoner in a particular wormhole. Because in ‘MOSAIC‘ all the pieces fit together to give the listener a fun, emotional and intense hour of good rock. Without great artifice, these guys compose their songs so that they are brilliant and attractive, abstracting themselves from styles and labels. Only with their inspiration and devotion to the blues, psychedelia and vintage rock. Their songs sometimes remind us of bands like GRAVEYARD, but above all they drink from the spring of seventies acid rock. This raw rock is driven by blues and psychedelia, incorporating sensational vocal melodies that reflect the delicacy with which they create their diffuse songs.
~ Roberto Lucas (Denpa Fuzz)
3. MOUNTAIN DUST – MOUNTAIN DUST / NEW!
18360 Points
Heavy Psych, Stoner Rock, Desert Rock
Montreal, Québec
Self-released
MOUNTAIN DUST delivers an epic blend of psychedelic stoner rock and desert rock, with marvelous musicianship and melodic vocals. The slower tempos incorporate hints of doom and sludge, making this heavy psych album a truly outstanding musical achievement.
~ Michael D’Amato (Playgroundz Rocks, D’Amato Production)
2. GODZILLIONAIRE – DIMINISHING RETURNS / NEW!
39353 Points
Alternative Rock, Stoner Rock, Grunge
Lawrence, Kansas, USA
Ripple Music
Accurately described as GODZILLIONAIRE‘s most eclectic release to date, Diminishing Returns delivers and builds upon everything we know and love about the Kansas-based stoner/alternative rockers, while successfully exploring some new stylistic components. The band maintains their foundation of stoner rock, grunge, and alternative rock (with some nods to metal in the mix), but experiments with sounds that are on both the lighter and heavier ends of the spectrum. Frontman Mark Hennesy’s lyrics are more heartfelt and personal than ever, and his vocals elevate their use of contrast, expanding upon their trademark approach of alternating between soothing and frenzied moods. However, I think the most important takeaway from Diminishing Returns is less about its specific genre affiliations (or lack thereof), and more about its incredibly accurate illustrations of emotion and the human condition. This is one of those albums that you can both rock out to and identify with on a profoundly deep level.
~ Stephanie Zalta (DoomCakes, Screaming From The Heavy Underground)
Some records just knock you over. Whether it is because it reminds you of a time in your life, or because the lyrics hit home for you, or the music is just catchy, memorable and expertly played, or maybe because the band in question has caught lightning in a bottle. Maybe in the case of Diminishing Returns, it is all of the above. GODZILLIONAIRE have created what I consider a perfect record that should be experienced by all. The playing, writing, and production on Diminishing Returns is perfect. The record goes in all sorts of directions but never is scattered or seems like it is veering off track. Mark Hennessy’s ability to tell a story in his lyrics and his trademarked voice made Paw stand out to those who know what shit is good, and he has somehow topped this with GODZILLIONAIRE and Diminishing Returns.
~ Rich Piva (Musipedia of Metal, FuzzDoomRip)
1. DUNES – LAND OF THE BLIND / NEW!
39456 Points
Stoner, Hardrock
Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
Ripple Music
First, second, third and fourth impression: it’s impossible to sit still when this gem is spinning, yet it also packs more that enough punch to get your rock juices flowing. DUNES produces some melodic, bluesy stoner with clean vocals that can be considered the ideal soundtrack to a garden party in the heart of summer with the BBQ smoking hot and the amp turned up to eleven. The only risk: the music is so goddamn catchy the neighbours will start complaining it still isn’t loud enough.
~ Ronny Dijksterhuis (Stoner HiVe)
This album came as a surprise for me because I’ve never heard of this band before. I’ve listened to the album more than five times by now! They play a classic stoner with clean vocal, heavy guitar riffs and a solid fuzzy sound. What I like about the disc is the tempo and the unique atmosphere of the compositions : confortable and healing for the soul. A very positive and furious energy that deserves to be spread all over the stoner world! Let’s dive into this awesome trip in the burning desert of the Dune universe. Land Of The Blind will be on my 2025 list, that’s for sure!
~ Edouard Dubuisson (Les chroniques d’Eddy, MetalUniverse)
My happy place is within the dark and beautiful realm of psych, stoner, desert, grunge, and space rock, and I am perfectly content to stay there. This album has everything I need, and is deeply fascinating and fulfilling. Land Of The Blind is the place I call home.
~ Michael D’Amato (Playgroundz Rocks, D’Amato Production)
