You all may know him as the man behind the pedal shop known as Stonefly Effects. We know him as that too, but Marc is a passionate devote to the scene who has a knack for taste when it comes to heavy music and the proof is in his vinyl collection. Proof is also in his 2020 favorites below.
It’s never an easy task to make a list of my favorite albums of the year.
I had well over 120 albums selected for this mission and it was really painful to leave out so many great albums. My thought process in choosing these albums was, what would I pick if I had to go on a boat and isolate myself on a remote island forever and I could bring only 50 albums from this year with me.
Overall, I’m always dragged more towards the Desert/Stoner Rock, Psychedelic Rock, 70’s Rock and Proto Metal or Occult vibes; so it’s not a real surprise if I left many excellent Doom albums behind. Some albums didn’t get the listening time that they would have deserved; I guess these shall rise in my heart later. Also, this exercise shouldn’t be taken too seriously, it’s more the opportunity to revisit some album that resonated with me along the year.
2020 was a dividing year on the political plan and a sad year on many levels. Many became sick, many lost loved people. Despite all the shit surrounding us, it was a really prolific musical year with so many quality albums released. It was just mind-blowing!!!
So yeah, I can’t wait to put the year 2020 behind me but not the music I witnessed!
So here’s my Best of 2020!
