Doom Charts 2019 Favorites – Tom Hanno

One thing the world can count on is that Mr. Tom Hanno (Tom’s Album Reviews) will take the bottom bandcamp code first. This is a FACT as we’ve joked about in our contributor team chats. Not only is he consistent in his copy/paste on bandcamp, but he consistently contributes his favorite albums each and every month like clockwork. Tom has been an asset to the team and has shared with us his top 20 albums from 2019.

Welcome to Doom Charts, representing some of the finest bloggers, journalists, radio, podcasters and album reviewers from the heavy underground around the globe.  Each month, our critics submit their picks for the best new doom, sludge metal, stoner-psychedelic and heavy rock albums.  The results are compiled and tabulated into the chart below.  This is a one-stop shop for the best new albums in the world…

20.  Red Beard Wall – The Fight Needs Us All

Aaron stuns with this release, I honestly don’t think there’s a bad track on it!!

separator
19.  Monolord – No Comfort

A fantastic next step for Monolord, and their Relapse Records debut. They may not be breaking any new ground, but that’s the point. This is just good music with tons of fuzz!!!

separator
18.  Swan Valley Heights – The Heavy Seed

Another great record from a year of great records. This was in repeat for weeks at my house.

separator
17.  Hembree and the Satan Sisters – F.Y.F

Punk and metal meet with explosive results!! A fantastic debut from this group.

separator
16.  Vessel of Light – Thy Serpent Rise

One of the most prolific underground acts out there, and already working in their 4th release!!!

separator
15.  Doomstress – Sleep Among the Dead

I was extremely excited about this release, and it didn’t disappoint me at all. This group gets better with each album they do.

separator
14.  Zed – Volume

The groove is strong with Zed, and Volume is another fantastic offering from the band.

separator
13.  Rammstein

Even though the production is a little stiff I still really enjoyed this album. Radio is probably their best track yet!!

separator
12.  Fleshgod Apocalypse – Veleno

Is it Death Metal or is it Black Metal? Who fucking cares because this is a brutal release with lots of elements to love.

separator
11.  Skunk – Strange Vibrations

Another great stoner album, perfect for firing up a fatty and vacating this world for a bit

10.  Old Horn Tooth – From the Ghost Grey Depths

I think we need a new subgenres for this brilliant group. This album is extremely good, and the Griefcase is one hell of a noise creator!

separator
9.     Besvärjelsen – Frost

This is an album that it’s best absorbed; even though I loved it on the first listen! Fantastic doom with stoner elements.

separator
8.     Killswitch Engage – Atonement

It’s KSE, and they only get better with every album; Atonement is no exception.

separator
7.     Kataklysm – Meditation

Probably my favourite Death Metal act ever, and they bring it for this record!

separator
6.     Clouds Taste Satanic – Evil Eye

Instrumental excellence, nothing else needs to be said; it’s near perfect.

A sequel to one of me favorite albums ever? This was a no brainers that exceeded even my lofty expectations.

separator

A perfect blend of old and new era Korn!!

separator
3.     Overkill – The Wings of War

A legendary band, producing legendary thrash. This record sat in my playlist for months!!

separator
2.     Cattle Decapitation – Death Atlas

A brutal slab of grindcore mixed with tech death proficiency, and more of the cleaner vocals we’ve been seeing them use.

separator
1.     Allegaeon – Apoptosis

This is tech death supremacy, there is none better in the genre.
